Camp Roberts

Camp Roberts

Camp Roberts played a vital role in the growth of Paso Robles. Located 14 miles
north on Highway 101, a large military population shopped  in,  visited, or lived in
Paso. Many liked it well enough to stay after their duty was completed. Growing up,
we loved to see the military equipment in convoys, but especially on Pioneer Day,
when the parade would feature a variety of vehicles, including tanks that would scar
up the streets. They would park them on 12th Street, so we could crawl on them, look
inside and pretend we were men for a few minutes.
